WALNUT CREEK - Sprinklers helped firefighters control a blaze in a Wells Fargo administrative office in Walnut Creek early this morning, a fire marshal said today.

Fire crews arrived at the two-story office building in the 1200 block of Montego Way around 1 a.m. and found that the building's fire alarm was activated and smoke was spreading through both floors, Fire Marshal Lewis Broschard said.

The blaze damaged the contents of three office cubicles on the building's first floor, and caused about $50,000 in damage, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

Thanks to the building's automatic sprinkler system and a fire engine hose, the flames were quickly contained.
